If your staycay happens to coincide with a Holiday be prepared for The Scarlet Follies.

Whether it’s a Crimson Christmas or a Penal Passover,  Club Fed and it’s members know how to celebrate.

Planning a stay in December?  Suffice it to say that Santa knows his way around Club Fed.  Fed Mart prepares months in advance by stocking the shelves with criminally good Peppermint Cocoa, Egg Nog Flavored treats and seasonal goodies (Peppermint flavored oreos?  check Candy Canes?  check Cinnamon flavored Pop Tarts? check).

Carolling is organized so that those blessed (or not so blessed) with cherubic voices can belt out “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “White Christmas” while passing out Holiday cookies and Hot Cocoa.

For the theatrically inclined there are opportunities to organize and perform plays/skits as well as a healthy competition among those on sabbatical as to the best productions, along with prizes.

Stockings are handed out as well!  Mind the carbohydrates, for healthy options are limited.  Treats lean more toward sinfully salty chips and corruptingly caloric candy bars, but who’s counting?!

As you have a captive audience there is ample time to prepare for these events.  Scarlet Sisters might knit or crochet theatrical costumes and Crimson Cons can create choir robes from sheets.  Given the melting pot of professionals in your presence you could be delightfully surprised to find a Designer, Choreographer and Opera Singer that can put together a production to impress Joel (or Brad) Grey!

Not planning a visit in December but  a Summer sabbatical?  Be prepared for July 4th cookouts complete with barbecue steak, angus burgers,  baked beans, corn bread, coleslaw, corn on the cob, soda and ice cream.

After your feast you can compete in rigorous obstacle courses including sack races, bean bag toss competitions and hurdles, all designed by your fellow Campers.

Teams prepare weeks in advance for the Summer Scarlet Follies and are very selective in the screening process.  Competition does not end at the entrance to Club Fed!  You may even find Professional Sportsmen/women in your midst who offer to train you for the big day.   Teams coordinate their outfits and it can be a great bonding experience creating a Felon Fraternity/Scarlet Sorority.

If you prefer mental exercises over physical there are Bingo and Card games you can join with prizes from Fed Mart.  You might be pleasantly surprised at your elation over winning a bottle of perfumed lotion or a sleeve of soda to reward your efforts, a far cry from the Sterling Silver trophies on your mantle at home but cherished nonetheless.

Be prepared….Uncle Sam knows how to party!!
