One can not stress enough how vital it is to procure a pair of flip flops as your first purchase upon entering Club Fed.

No, it’s not to protect your manicured tootsies from heated tile floors….nor is it to assist you in having tanned feet to avoid the unsightly tennis sock tan line.

No matter how much bleach is poured on the concrete floors or how clean you keep your living area, funky fungi abound at Club Fed.

Forget your 3 inch Manolos and Choos (for the Ladies) and elegant Lobbs and Berlutis (for the Men)….your new shoe style of choice will include rubber soles and comfort is the goal.

Daytime footwear involves a thick rubber soled “practical” shoe….this could be Timberland (for Men AND Women) or a pleather black steel tipped style you probably have seen previously on your High School Janitor.  Depending upon your Camp location you might even be provided with Docksiders boat shoes (flashback to Summer Sailing Camp in Mystic!).

These shoes are given to you courtesy of Uncle Sam (another “Thank you” to the American taxpayer).  You can use your time in Fed Mart to purchase or special order a pair of Nike (or other named brand) running shoe for all of the physical activities available (see related post “Softball, Spinning and Soccer Oh My!”).  This is highly recommended and, from a financial investment, a far better ROI than your spiked Louboutins!

In terms of flip flops, you will have a variety of options…from slides to traditional thong styles.  Yes, those Adidas slides you see the Kardashians (and Baes of Kardashians) wearing…you can also wear on your staycay.  It is perhaps the only shoe that Rob Kardashian now sports for both day and evening…so, you are on trend!

Your newly purchased rubber flip flops should be coveted as if they were Dorothy’s ruby slippers.  From the shower to socializing, your new Scarlet Slippers will never be far away.
