Anticipation runs high prior to weekly shopping sprees while ensconced at Club Fed.

Will Fed Mart have replenished the perennially popular pop tarts?  What new gooey chocolate items will be on display for purchase?  Did new make up palettes arrive?  Have special order shoes been delivered?  What about that waist trimming belt you have had your eye on?

While your Saks, Neiman Marcus and AMEX Black Cards take a rest at home while you are on sabbatical, one can still get their shopping “fix” at the Fed Mart on location.

Depending on where one is residing, orders can be placed in person during shopping hours at Fed Mart, or, in more secure facilities, orders may take place at a computer terminal and be delivered to you directly.

The assortment varies by location but there is normally a plethora of sweet and savory delights to quench your inner teen munchie desires in addition to an assortment of bath, body and hair products to enhance your beauty regimen.

Should one wish to enhance their wardrobe there are clothing items as well, normally focused on athletic gear (running shoes, running shorts, jog bras, sweat shirts, athletic socks, headbands, etc.)

In terms of hobbies, there are crafty items (yarn and knitting needles), crossword books and a selection of cards to reflect the time of year and Hallmark holiday of choice.

You may (or may not) recognize many of the brand names, but it’s best to forego the normal rigorous inspection process as the focus is less on quality and more on quantity.

What may be more surprising is less the excitement before shopping but the let down after shopping.  Having spent their allotted one day a week of shopping and perusing a bag full of mediocre merchandise, sojourners lapse into a Post Fed Mart-yum Depression.

Perhaps it’s from the cool down after the initial sugar rush or the guilt counting all of the calories consumed, but more realistic is the fact that you have to wait a full week for your next shopping “fix.”
