CONversation
Think starting up a CONversation with a campmate might be challenging? Think again.
Sure, you may be from different zip codes and have had different educational and social experiences, but you might be surprised to find that you have more in common with your fellow sojourners than you initially thought.
Start with where they are from….and ask all about what they like about their hometown.
Next up…family…do they have a partner? Children? Siblings? This will normally lead to a long conversation.
How about food? Likes/dislikes, favorites…we all have to eat! Can they cook? Maybe you can experiment at the communal microwave together.
Do they like playing or watching sports? Even if they may not participate in the physical activity they might enjoy routing for their favorite team.
Engaging in CONversation with others on sabbatical is not only kind but also therapeutic. You may think that keeping to yourself and avoiding social interaction is a way of protecting yourself but the opposite proves beneficial. Engaging in both social and physical activity is important to your mental health.
