April 2020 Book Donations
April has proven to be a challenging time for those at Camp. Not only is there worry about being exposed to COVID-19 in confined quarters, but in an effort to contain any potential spread, facilities were put on lockdown which means restricted movement in already cramped quarters. This can have a damaging effect on people both mentally and physically. As many have seen from being quarantined at home, imagine being confined to just your bedroom being unable to exercise, walk around, etc. In an effort to make the experience more tolerable The White Collar Club Handbook has ramped up donations to individuals at Camp as many Book Programs are currently closed while adhering to state guidelines.
In addition to sending weekly magazine packets, the following personalized book donations have also been made:
4/7/2020 Sent two new books to a woman at Lexington Camp to help her deal with anxiety while at Camp. It’s common for people to experience high levels of anxiety when confined. The COVID 19 lockdown requirements have caused much angst among people living in Camps as it has restricted movement significantly.
4/9/2020 Sent three new books to a woman at Greenville Camp. The positive outcome of being in “lockdown” is that it forces people to become more creative with their workouts and “down” time so in order to encourage both mental and physical stimulation The White Collar Club Handbook has been sending no equipment exercise manuals and educational books to people at Camp.
4/18/2020 Sent three new books to a woman at Lexington Camp to help her pass the time while Camps are on restricted movement due to COVID-19.
4/29/2020 Sent two exercise books that do not require equipment to a woman to help her maintain her weight goals while confined due to potential Coronavirus exposure.
4/29/2020 Sent two new books to a woman at Lexington from her wish list to help her stay engaged while in lockdown due to COVID-19.
