Crimson Cereal Creations

Aching for a Rice Krispie treat?  Well, you’re in luck!  No, nana didn’t sneak a batch onto Camp via drone, you can cook this up on your own.

Here is what you will need from Fed Mart (and a few items from CDR…wink, wink):

8 Tablespoons butter (those little pads you get with your rolls will do the trick)

1 bag of marshmallows (if Fed Mart is out of them, Fluff will do)

6 cups of cereal (Rice Krispie or whatever else you like…Cocoa Puffs, etc.)

Butter up your handy Tupperware square container.  Just enough to keep the mixture from sticking after it cools.  Set this aside.

Melt your butter in the microwave in your handy cooking Tupperware then stir in the marshmallows (or fluff) until it is all melted and smooth.

Now, take your cereal and slowly add it to the hot butter/marshmallow mixture by folding it in with a spoon ( I don’t recommend your hand as the mixture is quite hot).  Fully coat the cereal.  There should be no gooey mixture left over.

Once all of the flakes are coated lift the mixture into your greased Tupperware container.  Press it down to make an even layer.  This is sticky, so I suggest buttering up your hands to make the transfer easier (yes, you can use your hands now as the mixture has cooled down a bit after adding the cereal).

Now comes the hard part….allowing it to cool further.  You will be tempted to scarf down a mouthful but don’t, it’s still too warm to cut.    After it is cool to the touch, cut it into squares and share with your Felon Friends.

Feel like you deserve an extra treat after your evening workout?  Add some M & Ms after you fold in you cereal.  Making this around the holidays?  Fold in some crushed peppermint candy canes.

Enjoy!!!!
