CONspicuous CONsumption
Upon arrival at Camp one might be tempted to continue their rituals, including shopping for niceties. I hesitate to say necessities or luxuries as you will be supplied with necessities and anything above that is considered a luxury in your new domicile.
While it’s certainly nice to spend your monthly allotment in Fed Mart, and maybe even have others contribute as well, be aware of your spending patterns and how it is viewed by those around you.
No need to draw extra attention. Modesty is encouraged both in spending habits and in general demeanor.
Why draw the ire of a less fortunate sojourner? Why flame the fires of jealousy in someone prone to envy?
Yes you should buy whatever you need if your budget allows, just don’t CONspiculousy CONsume in front of others.
Sharing in your good fortune will come back tenfold. Making Scarlet S’mores (see previous post)? Make an extra one or two for those who don’t have any funds on their spending account, just don’t do it in a boastful way.
“A little thought and a little kindness are often worth more than a great deal of money.” – John Ruskin
