Scrumptious Scarlet S’mores (another SSS!)
Who doesn’t like a nice gooey S’more after a long day at Camp? Well, lucky for you Uncle Sam shares in your passion for all things marshmallow and chocolate!
Gather up the following items from Fed Mart for a traditional S’more:
Graham Crackers
Fluff
Chocolate Bar
Place one graham cracker on a plate and add a dollop of fluff followed by one (or two!) tabs of your favorite Hershey bar then place another graham cracker on top. Put this sandwich into the microwave and watch the fluff expand (and I mean EXPAND). Watch the entire time. * Once the fluff has reached close to double it’s size take out and let cool. You will (sadly) notice it deflate but then it oozes all over and makes for a finger licking good snack to go with your evening movie.
Given that the fluff and chocolate are likely to ooze a bit, be sure to place your S’more on a plastic lid that allows for spill over. Don’t have a plastic lid? Get creative….some cardboard will do just fine.
Want to add a bit of spunk? Try adding a teaspoon of peanut butter or, better yet, a Reese’s peanut butter cup!
Nut allergy? How about a dash of peppermint from the holiday candy canes! Or a bit of fresh mint from your friend in Horticulture.
Feel like you need something moderately healthy to add to your decadent treat? How about some cinnamon….it is supposed to lower blood sugar levels as well as has antioxidant powers that can lead in the fight against Parkinson’s, Diabetes and Cancer. Clearly dousing your food in cinnamon is not going to cure Cancer but there are those that believe it can assist in the fight.
Personally, I’m all about anything that smells good and tastes even better….so pick your favorite combination and start cooking!
All I can say it that you will be wanting S’more of this recipe!
*I have purposely left off the cooking time as microwaves vary from Camp to Camp and their strength varies dramatically. Stay close to the oven to gauge when the S’more is done….and don’t stray too far as your scrumptious treat might not be there when you get back!!
