Felon Fantasy

Ever imagine that you could start your own business?  Thinking about putting your cooking skills to use and opening a bakery?

Self employment is one of the few avenues open to returning felons, and something one should seriously consider.

You don’t have to have prior experience running a business (although that helps), you just need to channel your unique skill sets into setting up a revenue generating job.

This doesn’t mean some splashy office or even an office at all.  Are you good at gardening?  Everyone needs their lawn tended to…all you need is to invest in a good mower and shears and voila!  Instant business.

Manual labor not your thing?  More of a techie?  How about helping elderly people with navigating the ins and outs of their computer, phone, apps, etc.  This is a growing business as those of a certain age didn’t grow up with laptops, iPhones, etc.  WeChat and SnapChat are foreign terms to them.  They simply like to chat with their friends.  Put an ad in your local paper (or hand out leaflets), targeting nursing homes, etc. and offering your services with a per hour fee.

These types of dreams are not fantasies and are quick to set up and get started.  After a few assignments, done well, you can grow your business through word of mouth.  Don’t be shy about asking your customers for feedback (good and bad) and ask them to refer you to people.

Unlike your side gig at Club Fed this will result in cold hard cash, versus the hostess treats you received from Fed Mart.

Contact your local church or community center.  They may even let you borrow a conference room for a group class or, better yet, hire you to mow their lawn, teach them the ins and outs of Windows or cook for their next event.

Make your Felon Fantasy a reality!!!
