Calling on all Friends of F…..
The WCC Handbook was incredibly touched by the following request from a child of a Scarlet Sister in support of a Crimson Crony that it needed to be shared:
A Note from Hahn Sol

As you all know, my mother is currently incarcerated at Alderson Prison Camp located in West Virginia. She, however, is fortunate enough to have a family that supports her while she’s incarcerated. This is not the case for many of the women at the prison camp. The majority of the women at Alderson have no family nor financial support during their incarceration. In addition, these ladies do not have a sustainable life to which they can return when they are released. As a result of these circumstances, most of the women end up in the same position, which leads them right back to prison.
I would like to thank all the contributors, who donated to “A Kid Who Cares”. We used that money to buy gift cards for children of incarcerated women, and the donations helped brighten their Christmas. For the next step of “A Kid Who Cares”, we are seeking your help to assist women who are being released from prison. We want to provide some financial support so that these women have a sustainable support system while they acclimate back into society.
There is one person in particular that we would like to help this year. Her name is Candy, and she has been my mother’s bunkie for the past two years. Throughout her entire life, she was never given a chance to thrive in an environment in which she could prosper. Desperate situations prompted poor choices, leading her down a path with little promise or hope. Upon her release next year, Candy will have served 10 years in prison. Candy will return to her disabled mother, who loves her tremendously but does not have the ability nor means to support her financially. Candy is a committed worker, having earned a multitude of skills during her incarceration, including certification as a firefighter. She is also a determined survivor, and given the chance, she can and will prosper.
The “A Kid who Cares” foundation want to provide Candy as well as other as other women in similar situations with a backdrop and equip them with some financial support while they seek re-integration back into the world beyond the walls of Alderson. We truly believe that we can have a significant impact in helping these women rebound. Any donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your generosity and continued support.
Donations may be sent to my father, John S. Kim, at 8008 Greenwich Woods Drive, McLean, VA 22102. Thank you.
If you are able, please support “A Kid Who Cares” with a donation.
