For WCC’s you can’t recall a time when you didn’t have a nickname. Since birth your elder sibling has been known as Tripp, for the triple sticks after his name. You don’t know your Aunt by any other name than Bitsy and your pets even were known by names other than their given name.
Club Fed is much the same, though the names tend to be more descriptive.
Much of this has to do with the fact that you don’t plan on forming lasting relationships during your stay nor can you recall everyone’s name, hence the need to create a nick name that can easily identify the person.
Perhaps the rather masculine woman named Michelle is also known as MANchelle or the busty lady named Debbie that leads Step Class is otherwise known as Double D.
Rather than taking offense to a nickname, people wear them as a badge of honor. Some people will even take to introducing themselves with their Club Fed name.
It has been rumored that Martha Stewart’s nickname at Camp Cupcake was M Stew which she enthusiastically accepted.
So embrace your temporary moniker and have some fun creating one for new sojourners.
