CONvivial CONgregations
Think you will miss your monthly Book Club or Ladies Lunch/Bro Brunch? Think again. If anything, you social calendar will be chuck full while at Camp. I mean, it’s not like to have to run to a meeting, lead a conference call or plan budgets.
Take this time to catch up (or revisit) books that you have always wanted to read and truly digest at leisure.
Join (or start) a Book Club. It won’t be hard to do. You are in a sea of similarly bored cohorts. Instead of monthly you could even meet bi-weekly or, for the truly ambitious, weekly. Try to find a group of people that read on the same level and share some of the same interests. That being said, don’t be shy about shaking things up with some people from diverse backgrounds to have a spirited discussion about the latest political tell-all.
Take the same approach to organizing group meals (outside of CDR). Weather permitting, dine outside. Pot lucks bring out the best in everyone. Whether it be people showing off their enviable Camp cooking skills or those enjoying sampling Scarlet savories from across the world. Even if you can’t cook, contribute by supplying ingredients or helping set up/clean up.
Birthday parties abound, almost nightly, but these larger group CONvivial CONgregations really celebrate the fact that beneath the skin everyone is sharing in life and hope for a brighter future. Don’t wait to be invited, initiate and ingratiate!
